I have previously applied for a custom domain email on Zoho's international version website. The process for applying on the domestic version is similar, and the domestic version also has a great feature: as long as the domain can be resolved properly, the service can be used even without filing.
Application Steps#
Application URL: https://www.zoho.com.cn/mail/zohomail-pricing.html?src=zmail
After opening the URL, scroll down to see the following interface:
Application Entrance
Fill in Information#
Click on "Sign Up Now" under the "Forever Free" version to enter the following interface:
Set Domain
Since I have already registered my own domain, I used the domain "example.mail" for demonstration purposes. This does not affect filling in the information. When applying, fill in your own domain name. Next, fill in the registrant information:
Fill in Information
Click "Confirm" when finished.
DNS Verification#
In the newly opened interface, we are required to verify our domain:
Domain Verification
I used the TXT verification method and set it as follows in the DNS control panel (using my own domain here):
Configure TXT Record
After configuring, wait for a TTL (depending on the length set) and then click "Verify" to complete the process. You can then set up users on your own.
Is that all?
If it ends here, although the email can be sent normally now, testing will reveal that the mailbox cannot receive emails. This is because we have not configured MX records for the domain, so other mailboxes cannot find our mailbox. Therefore, we need to configure MX records for the mailbox according to the following steps:
Configure MX Record Steps
Set as follows in the DNS control panel:
Configure MX Record
After completing this step, you will be able to receive emails smoothly~
Advanced Operation: Adding DKIM Verification and SPF Verification#
To prevent emails sent from your mailbox from being treated as spam, you can enable SPF verification and DKIM verification. Follow the process of configuring TXT records mentioned above to add the following two TXT records:
Configure SPF Record
Configure DKIM Record
