I have previously applied for a custom domain email on Zoho's international version website. The process for applying on the domestic version is similar, and the domestic version has a good feature: as long as the domain name can be resolved normally, the service can be used even without filing.
Application Steps#
Application URL: https://www.zoho.com.cn/mail/zohomail-pricing.html?src=zmail
After opening the URL, scroll down to see the following interface:
Application Entrance
Fill in Information#
Click "Sign Up Now" under the Free Forever version to enter the following interface:
Set Domain
Since I have already registered my own domain name, I used the domain name example.mail
for demonstration purposes. This does not affect filling in the information. When applying, fill in your own domain name. Next, fill in the registrant information:
Fill in Information
Click "Confirm" when finished.
DNS Verification#
In the newly opened interface, you will be asked to verify your domain name:
Domain Verification
I used the TXT verification method and set it as follows in the DNS control panel (using my own domain name here):
Configure TXT Record
After configuring, wait for a TTL (depending on the length you set) and then click "Verify" to complete the process. You can then set up users on your own.
Is that all?
If it ends here, although the email can be sent normally now, if you test it, you will find that the email cannot be received. This is because we have not configured MX records for the domain name, so other mailboxes cannot find our mailbox. Therefore, we need to configure MX records for the mailbox according to the following steps:
Configure MX Record Steps
Set as follows in the DNS control panel:
Configure MX Record
After completing this step, you will be able to receive emails successfully~
Advanced Operation: Adding DKIM Verification and SPF Verification#
To prevent emails sent from your mailbox from being treated as spam, you can enable SPF verification and DKIM verification. Add the following two TXT records following the process of configuring TXT records mentioned above:
Configure SPF Record
Configure DKIM Record
